JONES HAS IMPRESSIVE WEEKEND FOR HAWKS IN CEDAR RAPIDS
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team competed in a two-day tournament on Friday and Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Hawks were defeated by No. 11 Sauk Valley Community College by a final score of 3-0, fell to Lincoln Land Community College 3-0, dropped their match against No. 10 Illinois Central College 3-1 and were topped 3-0 by Heartland Community College.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team competed in a two-day tournament on Friday and Saturday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Hawks were defeated by No. 11 Sauk Valley Community College by a final score of 3-0, fell to Lincoln Land Community College 3-0, dropped their match against No. 10 Illinois Central College 3-1 and were topped 3-0 by Heartland Community College.
Northeast (3-8, 2-0 ICCAC) squared off with some of the strongest teams in the nation during the event and were led in assists over the three days by Mckenna Jones (Yutan, Neb.) with 58. The Hawks had arguably their strongest performance of the tournament against No. 10 Illinois Central as Northeast forced a fourth game and scored over 20 points in three of the four games.
The Hawks will now step back into conference play in their next three matches as they will battle No. 10 Iowa Central Community College, No. 16 Des Moines Area Community College and Southeastern Community College all in the next week.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on the weekend as a whole:
"We played some tough teams this weekend and I think we learned that we really need to focus on being consistent, bringing energy the entire match and talking," Schultze said. "We are really struggling at some simple things, but there should be simple fixes if everyone puts in the effort."
Schultze on battling No. 10 Iowa Central on Tuesday:
"We are looking forward to playing another tough team, but in our home gym, on Tuesday," Schultze said.

The Hawks will host No. 10 Iowa Central Community College at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
