DEFENSE FROM BORG AND MUNTER-MCAFEE LEADS HAWKS OVER REDTAILS
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team held their final contest at home during the regular season Thursday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk against Hawkeye Community College. The Hawks got the best of the matchup by a final score of 3-1.
NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team held their final contest at home during the regular season Thursday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk against Hawkeye Community College. The Hawks got the best of the Redtails in the matchup by a final score of 3-1.
Northeast (14-16, 9-2 ICCAC) dropped the first set of the night but rallied in impressive fashion to take sets two, three and four. The victory was massive for Northeast in many different way as the triumph means the Hawks have retained the third spot in the ICCAC Standings and they remain on track to secure a top-four seed in the conference standings, which would allow them to host a semifinal match in the Region 11 Tournament on Saturday, November 1.

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on the keys to tonight's comeback:
"Katie Borg and Daveigh Munter-McAfee stood out defensively," Schultze said. "I felt like we struggled to connect in that first set and we made some changes that allowed us to pick it up. I'm glad we came back and finished strong."
Schultze on what she wants to see from her team over the next week as they get ready to take on the playoffs:
"I need to see them coming in and working hard in practice," Schultze said. "Talking and staying disciplined. I want to see that effort in practice so we can be ready for the postseason."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will travel to take on No. 1 Kirkwood Community College at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in the regular-season finale.
