NORTHEAST PICKS UP TWO VICTORIES DURING WEEKEND IN KANSAS

CONCORDIA, Kan. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team was in Arkansas City, Kansas Friday to battle Coffeyville Community College and No. 1 Cowley County Community College before taking on Pratt Community College and Cloud County Community College Saturday in Concordia, Kansas. The Hawks downed Coffeyville by a final score of 3-1, fell to No. 1 Cowley County 3-0, swept Pratt 3-0 and were defeated by Cloud County 3-2.

Northeast (9-15, 5-2 ICCAC) was led in their victory against Coffeyville Community College by freshman Mckenna Jones (Yutan, Neb.) as she recorded five ace serves and 26 assists. Jones also picked up 19 assists against No. 1 Cowley County later in the afternoon. On Saturday, the Hawks picked up their fifth sweep of the season as Northeast will now return home for a triangular Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk against Western Iowa Tech Community College and Southeast Community College.

"We had some sophomores step up this weekend and play some roles that they don't normally play," Schultze said. "We played hard and stayed disciplined against Cowley County."

Schultze on what she is looking for as her team heads back home this week:

"I'm really wanting to see some consistency," Schultze said. "We are well over halfway through the season and still having a lot of ups and downs. I would like to see us fix some of the errors that we are making."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will host a triangular and will battle Western Iowa Tech Community College at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk followed by a match with Southeast Community College at 6 p.m.
