NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 2 Northeast Community College men's soccer team hosted their first home contest of the season Sunday morning at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in a matchup with Parkland College. The Hawks triumphed in the contest by a final score of 4-1.

Overgaard put in a beautiful goal in the second half off of his left foot and Hugo Munter (Roskilde, Denmark) added a penalty kick later in the match as Northeast will now look forward to a stretch where they will host both Patrick & Henry Community College and Iowa Central Community College at home this week.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Men's Soccer Coach Adam Potter on the performance from his team Sunday:
"Sort of a sluggish start for us today," Potter said. "We got up a couple of goals, made some silly mistakes in the back and were on cruise control a bit. We have to play our brand. We let them linger around, but we were creating a lot of actions."
Potter on the play from Mathias Overgaard in the match:
"Mathias came in off of the bench and was a huge spark plug for us," Potter said. "He was great in defensive transitions and attacking transitions. He was controlling the game, and we were fortunate to have that performance from him today. Him and Jaden Porter-Atkinson were huge influences in the game today."
Potter on hosting a quality opponent Wednesday night:
"Really excited for that," Potter said. "Any time you can play under the lights at home, it's an awesome opportunity for our guys. Especially against a team that is driving all the way in from Virginia and one we played at nationals a few years ago. It will be another good test for us and we have to be dialed in and ready to go."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will compete against Patrick & Henry Community College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
