NORTHEAST BATTLES CONFERENCE FOES IN FORT DODGE

FORT DODGE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College men's golf team was in Fort Dodge, Iowa Friday and Saturday to compete in the Iowa Central Spring Invitational at Fort Dodge Country Club. The Hawks took home a fourth-place finish in the event.

The North Central Plains District Championship is just a few weeks away and Northeast had the chance to battle fellow district members Des Moines Area Community College, Iowa Central Community College, North Iowa Area Community College and Southeast Community College over the weekend. Santiago Valdes (Mexico City, Mexico) led the way for the Hawks as he has done all spring as he finished eighth in the two-day tournament.

Head golf coach Ty Heimes on the weekend and where his team is currently at:

"Pretty solid tournament for our guys," Heimes said. "We have some stuff we need to clean up before our next event and we should be in good shape. With no tournament until April 17, it will be nice to have a full week of practice. We know what we need to work on and now we just have to go and do it."

The Hawks will next play in the Raider Invitational starting at 10 a.m. Monday at Landsmeer Golf Club in Orange City, Iowa.
