NORTHEAST MEN’S GOLF GRABS THIRD IN DOANE SPRING INVITE

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men's golf team competed in two different rounds during the Doane Spring Invite in both Eagle, Nebraska and Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday and Saturday. The Hawks wrapped up the event in third place out of 15 teams.

Round 1 was played at Woodland Hills Golf Course in Eagle, Nebraska while Round 2 took place at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska as part of the two-day tournament. The Hawks shot 299 as a squad during the first day and then totaled 295 on the second day in the event loaded with area teams. Santiago Valdes (Mexico City, Mexico) was the highest-finishing Northeast golfer as he wrapped up the tournament in a tie for ninth.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head men's golf coach Ty Heimes on how he viewed the two-day event:

"Really good tournament for our guys!" Heimes said. "We got off to a shaky starts both days and the guys just hung in there and battled."

Heimes on how his group can build on this event heading into their next competition:

"It's nice to take some momentum into our tournament next week," Heimes said. "It is another really good field so we will need to have our A-game."

Northeast will battle next at the Bethel College Spring Invitational starting at 12 p.m. Saturday at Hesston Golf Park in Hesston, Kansas.
