Northeast (12-9) was powered on the hill by starter Caden Rezac (Ogallala, Neb.) as the sophomore allowed just one hit during his start in four innings of work. Giuseppe Salvatore (Johnstown, Colo.) recorded four RBIs in the matchup and blasted a home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure a run-rule victory for the Hawks.
In Game 2, the pitching was again a strong point for Northeast as Thomas Marshall (Mississauga, Ontario) was excellent in relief, allowing just one hit in two innings of work. After playing in the field all day, freshman Lou Hodoly (Omaha, Neb.) made his first appearance of the season on the mound and secured the save in the contest. Salvatore again homered in the showdown, bringing his total to eight on the year.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Baseball Coach Marcus Clapp on what clicked in the sweep of Southeast:
"Pitching was huge today," Clapp said. "We only gave up runs in one inning all day. We pitched well and didn't give free bases, which has been hurting us. We still had a few guys who we trust to throw who didn't need to throw today. Good day on the mound, and Giuseppe continues to hit the ball well."
Clapp on preparing for conference play soon:
"We need to keep doing the same thing," Clapp said. "We've got about two weeks until conference play, and we need to continue to work to be ready. There's nothing that we haven't seen yet. That's the nice thing about the schedule we have played. We have seen a little bit of everything on the mound, and we know offensively what we need to do. We just need to keep working on little things."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will battle Miles Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Baseball Field in Norfolk.
