HAWKS SEASON CONCLUDES IN REGION 11 FINAL SUNDAY

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team was back in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Sunday to compete in the Region 11 Tournament Championship against No. 3 Kirkwood Community College. The Hawks fell in the battle by a final score of 3-0.

Northeast (26-15, 8-3 ICCAC) was competing in their first Region 11 Championship since 2019 and led early throughout the showdown. Shaylyn Safranek (Merna, Neb.) recorded 18 assists, two blocks and two aces in the matchup with the highly-ranked Eagles. The Hawks have now finished the season with 26 wins, a record of 8-2 at home and two victories over nationally-ranked opponents

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on what she will remember about her team this year:

"We had a lot of ups and downs this season, but the girls came together towards the end and pushed hard," Schultze said. "We haven't been to the regional final match since 2019. Very proud of them for getting here."
