NELSON LEADS HAWKS IN KILLS THURSSDAY NIGHT IN DEFEAT TO PANTHERS

IOWA FALLS, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team was on the road Thursday night in Iowa Falls, Iowa for a conference showdown with Ellsworth Community College. The Panthers got the best of the Hawks in the matchup by a final score of 3-1.

Northeast (17-13, 4-4 ICCAC) fell in the first set but made a huge rally after being down 22-18 to take set number two. The final two sets of the night were incredibly competitive as Ellsworth just squeezed out 25-22 and 26-24 victories to take the match. Kaitlyn Nelson (Ainsworth, Neb.) had a season high 13 kills in the duel as the Hawks will now have a week off before the final four games of the regular season.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on what was working in the contest:

"We blocked really well tonight," Schultze said. "Our middles did a great job and got a ton of touches."

Schultze on looking ahead to next week with only a few matches left in the regular season:

"We need to get back into a rhythm," Schultze said. "It's been a little tough with different players in different positions and we just need to get our rhythm back next week and focus on one game at a time."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will be off this weekend before taking on North Iowa Area Community College at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Mason City, Iowa.
