COMETS TAKE SHOWDOWN WITH HAWKS IN FIVE SETS

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Northeast Community College volleyball team was back on the floor for the first time in a week Wednesday as they traveled to Sioux City, Iowa for a battle with Western Iowa Tech Community College. The Comets took the matchup by a final score of 3-2.

Northeast (15-10, 4-3 ICCAC) dropped the first set 25-21 but rallied back in the middle sets with victories in set two and set three. Lauren Buhrman (Wisner, Neb.) recorded 15 kills, two ace serves and 26 digs in the duel. The Hawks have split the season series with Western Iowa Tech after downing the Comets by a final score of 3-0 back on August 23.

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on the positives from her team tonight:

"We got the ball to our middles tonight, which definitely helped us out at times," Schultze said.

Schultze on what she wants to see from her group to find success this weekend:

"We need to stop making the same errors over and over again and move on to the next ball," Schultze said. "We play scared when things get close and end up making more errors. We need to move on to the next ball and always be competitive."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will be busy this weekend at they will play four games in the Central Community College Tournament starting with a matchup against Dakota College at Bottineau at 3 p.m. Friday in Columbus, Nebraska.
