COUCH FILLS THE STAT SHEET AS NORTHEAST ATHLETICS SWEEPS THE DAY OVER IOWA LAKES

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team returned home Wednesday night and welcomed Iowa Lakes Community College to the Cox Activities Center. The Hawks completed a sweep of the day for Northeast Athletics as they came out on top by a final score of 3-0.

Northeast (15-9, 4-2 ICCAC) fell behind initially in the first set but rallied back and never allowed the Lakers to get much traction during the night. Avery Couch (David City, Neb.) stuffed the stat sheet as she led the Hawks in both kills with 10 and blocks with seven. Northeast will now have a rare weekend off as they will look ahead to the final month of the regular season.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on ending a huge day for Northeast Athletics ending on her team's home floor with a victory:

"I think it is always fun when there's different things going on," Schultze said. "I think it gets our team hyped up even more. Even before the game, the players were asking if the soccer team won. That's always fun. It's good that they are thinking about the other teams on campus. It was a fun atmosphere!"

Schultze on what she is looking forward to with the week off upcoming:

"Just to give everyone a break," Schultze said. "And get ready for the second half of the season. Just to get them focused and really think about what we have to do to get where we want to go."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will have the weekend off before heading again to Western Iowa Tech Community College for a showdown at 7 p.m. in Sioux City, Iowa.
