REDDEN ALL OVER THE COURT FOR NO. 20 HAWKS SATURDAY IN DOUBLEHEADER

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – The No. 20 Northeast Community College volleyball team headed west for a triangular against both North Platte Community College and McCook Community College. The Hawks fell to the Knights by a final score of 3-2 before dropping Game 2 to the Indians by a final score of 3-1.

Northeast (14-9. 3-2 ICCAC) and North Platte both fought hard to the wire Saturday as neither team was able to win two sets in a row until the fifth set. Shaylyn Safranek (Merna, Neb.) had four ace serves in the five sets as the Hawks fell just at the end of the duel.

There was more volleyball to be played just a half hour later as Northeast and McCook lined up against each other for the second time this year. The Hawks took a 3-1 victory back on August 25 but were unable to repeat that result as the two squads split the season series. Sydney Redden (Wayne, Neb.) tallied 20 digs in the showdown to bring her total to 52 on the day.

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will stay at home this week and will welcome Iowa Lakes Community College for a showdown beginning at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
