NO. 20 NORTHEAST PUT UP TOUGH FIGHT IN DEFEAT TO NO. 6 KIRKWOOD WEDNESDAY NIGHT

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The No. 20 Northeast Community College volleyball team was back on the road for their second conference matchup in three days as they battled No. 6 Kirkwood Community College Wednesday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Eagles took the contest by a final score of 3-0 in three sets.

Northeast (14-7, 3-2 ICCAC) fought hard in both the first and second sets as both were decided in just the final points. The Hawks fell by just two points in set one and three points in set two but fell 25-11 in the third set. Freshman Avery Couch (David City, Neb.) led Northeast in kills for the second matchup in a row with seven.

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on what clicked in the first two sets tonight:

"Energy is everything," Schultze said. "That's what we had in the first two sets, and we played well together."

Schultze on the keys to the weekend:

"We just need to communicate, make adjustments when needed and keep doing what works until the other team stops us," Schultze said.

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will head out for two games this weekend with the first contest beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday against North Platte Community College and the second at 1 p.m. Saturday against McCook Community College, with both games in North Platte, Nebraska.
