KRUSEMARK SHINES AS HAWKS SPLIT TRIP TO MCCOOK

MCCOOK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College volleyball team loaded up and competed in a doubleheader Friday in McCook, Nebraska against Otero College and Dodge City Community College. The Hawks were victorious in the first match of the day by a final score of 3-1 before falling 3-0 in the later contest.

Northeast (8-3, 1-0 ICCAC) and Otero played in an extremely-competitive showdown in the morning battle as both teams put together impressive runs. The Rattlers were able to avoid a sweep and steal set three, but the Hawks battled back to seal the deal in the fourth set.

Game 2 was a tough one for Northeast as early deficits plagued them in all three sets. Northeast didn't go down without a fight as they climbed back and took leads in set two and set three before ultimately falling in the event.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Volleyball Coach Amanda Schultze on who stood out today:

"Our block did a great job in our first match against Otero," Schultze said. "Lauren Buhrman on the OH led the team with 20 kills. She and Kiara Krusemark really connected during that match. We need to work on making adjustments defensively as a team and offensively as attackers."

Schultze on her team finally having some time off over the Labor Day holiday:

"It will be nice to get a break this long weekend and hopefully we will be refreshed coming back next week," Schultze said.

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will be on the road once again for a duel with Southwestern Community College at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Creston, Iowa.
