SPENCER, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women's soccer team traveled Saturday to Spencer, Iowa to battle No. 15 Iowa Lakes Community College in the Region 11 Tournament Championship. The Hawks fell in the contest by a final score of 2-0.
Northeast (9-9-2, 6-1-1 ICCAC) earned the right to play in the matchup after defeating Dakota County Technical College and No. 16 Iowa Central Community College in the postseason earlier in the week to advance to the title match. The Hawks downed the Lakers by a final score of 3-0 back on October 1 at Norfolk Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk during the regular season, but the Lakers were able to blank Northeast in the conference final on Saturday.
Amelia Bingley (Melbourne, Australia), Helena Chetcuti (Melbourne, Australia), Malana Gurmendi (Boulder, Colo.) and Emma Brilleman (Diepenveen, Netherlands) were all named to the Region 11 Tournament All-Tournament Team for their performances throughout the playoffs.
The Hawks finished the year with a 6-1-1 record in conference play and a record of 7-0-1 at home.
