MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team returned to the road Saturday for a matchup with Marshalltown Community College in Marshalltown, Iowa. The Hawks got back into the win column with a dominant victory by a final score of 64-47.

Northeast (15-8, 10-7 ICCAC) led by six points at the end of the first quarter and never looked back as Aaliyah Jones (Rapid City, S.D.) and Aweng Akoi (Sioux Falls, S.D.) both were in double figures, scoring 22 and 10 points. Akoi added seven rebounds and three blocks as the win keeps the Hawks solidly in sixth place in the ICCAC standings with just three showdowns left on their home floor.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Svehla on his team picking up the victory against the Tigers:
"It was good to get back in the win column," Svehla said. "We had a good defensive first half and that allowed us to have a bit of a lead. Marshalltown has played well at home, so it was good to come out on top, and we are looking forward to being back home on Wednesday."

The Hawks will play on their home floor again as they will take on Central Community College at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
