HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Svehla on how the matchup with No. 19 Iowa Lakes played out:
"We got out of the gates pretty good and led by 10 early," Svehla said. "Next thing you know, we're down 10 at halftime. We let the game turn on us there and we were not very good with the basketball. It's tough to win with 30 turnovers. They got to the rim with ease, and I thought our transition defense was not very good."
Svehla on sophomore Aaliyah Jones topping 1,000 career points in the matchup:
"Those are always big moments," Svehla said. "I'm happy for Aaliyah, she's been a great scorer for us for two years. Hitting the 1,000-point mark is great and we are all happy for her."
Svehla on being back at home Saturday against No. 9 NIACC:
"This one is over and done with," Svehla said. "We have a couple of tough ones coming up and another at home Saturday against a NIACC team who is currently ranked in the top 10 and beat us at their house. Obviously, we'll have to bring a different game to the floor Saturday."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will welcome No. 9 North Iowa Area Community College to town for a battle at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
