HUGE FOURTH-QUARTER RALLY PROPELS HAWKS AHEAD OF PANTHERS SATURDAY

IOWA FALLS, Iowa – The No. 25 Northeast Community College women's basketball team traveled to Iowa Falls, Iowa Saturday for a road test against conference foe Ellsworth Community College. The Hawks topped the Panthers by a final score of 69-63.

Northeast (14-5, 9-4 ICCAC) trailed by as many as 11 points late in the third quarter in the showdown, but the Hawks really got things going in the fourth quarter as they scored 28 points compared to just 11 from Ellsworth in the final frame of the matchup. Aaliyah Jones (Rapid City, S.D.) led all scorers with 24 points as Northeast has now won seven of their last eight games with two conference clashes on deck this week at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Svehla on the massive fourth quarter that gave his team the victory:

"We really lacked energy in the first half, and we were fortunate to only be down by one point at halftime," Svehla said. "We had a poor third quarter and only scored five points. We needed a big fourth quarter to squeak out of here with a win. Road wins are tough to come by, so we will take it any way we can get it."

The Hawks will welcome No. 14 Iowa Lakes Community College to town at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night at the Cox Activities Center in Norfolk.
