HAWKS HEAD INTO WINTER BREAK WITH A MASSIVE VICTORY OVER NO. 13 BEARS ON THE ROAD MONDAY NIGHT
BOONE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women’s basketball team traveled to Boone, Iowa Monday night for a conference matchup against undefeated No. 13 Des Moines Area Community College. The Hawks were victorious to hand the Bears their first loss of the season by a final score of 65-60.
BOONE, Iowa – The Northeast Community College women's basketball team traveled to Boone, Iowa Monday night for a conference matchup against undefeated No. 13 Des Moines Area Community College. The Hawks were victorious to hand the Bears their first loss of the season by a final score of 65-60.
Northeast (9-4, 4-3 ICCAC) hit the road after their victory over Marshalltown Community College on Saturday at home and were tied with the nationally ranked DMACC squad at halftime but got things rolling in the second half to hand the Bears their first loss of the season. Aaliyah Jones (Rapid City, S.D.) was dominant again with another double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds as the Hawks will now take a few weeks off before getting back after it on January 7 against Southwestern Community College.

Head Women's Basketball Coach Matt Svehla on the massive victory Monday night:
"Always great to win on the road and against a good opponent," Svehla said. "We got down in the first half but rallied back to have it tied at halftime and then we got down in the second half, and we found a way to win down the stretch. I was proud of the fight we showed and happy for the team. Great feeling to head into break with a win and we look forward to picking back up when we resume in January."
