NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team played host to Iowa Lakes Community College Tuesday for a doubleheader at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk. The Hawks dropped both showdowns by final scores of 8-6 and 11-7.

NORFOLK, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team played host to Iowa Lakes Community College Tuesday for a doubleheader at Ta-Ha-Zouka Park in Norfolk. The Hawks dropped both showdowns by final scores of 8-6 and 11-7.
Northeast (10-27, 2-12 ICCAC) and the Lakers traded the lead five times in Game 1 of the afternoon as Isabel Raburn (Holdrege, Neb.) and Kylee Weitzel (West Haven, Utah) both homered for the Hawks in the contest. Amayah Gaston (Albertville, Minn.) picked up two hits in the matchup and Northeast had 10 total but came up just short in the seventh inning.
The homers were flying again in Game 2 as Emilee Sirdoreus (Laramie, Wyo.) blasted her second home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning as the Hawks jumped out to an early 5-0 lead on the scoreboard. Iowa Lakes didn't go down without a fight, however, as they combined for 10 runs in the third and fourth innings to complete the sweep of the day.
