RUNS GALORE TUESDAY FOR HAWKS IN NORTH PLATTE

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – The Northeast Community College softball team traveled to North Platte, Nebraska for a doubleheader showdown with North Platte Community College Tuesday. The Hawks took down the Knights by a final score of 15-10 in Game 1 and also took an 11-1 victory in Game 2.

Northeast (7-13, 0-8 ICCAC) pitchers Emilee Spitz (Columbus, Neb.), Tara Koch (Norfolk, Neb.) and Josie Knust (Plattsmouth, Neb.) had plenty of run support on the afternoon from the Hawks lineup. The 26 runs in the two contests were the biggest single-day total on the campaign for the Northeast, topping their previous doubleheader-combined total of 19 against Cloud County Community College back on March 12.

Head softball coach Iris Woodhead's thoughts on what clicked for her squad today:

"Today we hit the ball well," Woodhead said. "Had some great team ABs. We ran the bases well too."

Woodhead on how this stretch of the schedule can help prepare her team down the line:

"We need to figure out a way to bring it as soon as we step off the bus," Woodhead said. "We have a lot of traveling towards the end of our season."

UP NEXT:

Northeast will be on the road again this week as they will battle Morningside University JV in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. Thursday in Sioux City, Iowa.
