NO. 15 NORTHEAST MEN’S SOCCER TAKE HUGE WIN IN HOME OPENER

NORFOLK, Neb. – The No. 15 Northeast Community College men's soccer team opened up their home slate Saturday with a massive challenge as they took on NJCAA Division I No. 18 Indian Hills Community College. The Hawks came away victorious by a final score of 4-2 for their first win over the Warriors in the history of the men's soccer program.

The Hawks (9-1) rebounded from their narrow loss to NJCAA Division I No. 1 Iowa Western Wednesday and jumped on the scoreboard early Saturday. In fact, the score was 2-1 with Northeast in the lead just seven minutes into the game. The Hawks would control the game wire-to-wire as they captured the enormous victory.

Head men's soccer coach Adam Potter on taking the momentous win during his team's home opener:

"First off, it felt so good to finally be playing a game on our home soil in Norfolk," Potter said. "What a statement that the boys made in this home opener."

Potter on how his team can build on this game as they prepare to play again in just two days:

"Wholeness is one of our core values that we follow, and it was the key today," Potter said. "It took every single person doing their role today for us to find success, and we want to continue that in the future."

The Hawks will be back at home at 1 p.m. Monday as they take on Marshalltown Community College at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.
