Hawks top defending national champions No. 8 Southeastern in double overtime

NORFOLK, Neb. – Arturo Castro (Norfolk, Neb.) dribbled the ball down the left side of the field with eight minutes to play in double overtime and skipped the ball to Paul Einero (Cape Town, South Africa) who nicked the ball into the net as the Northeast Community College men's soccer team upset No. 8 Southeastern Community College, 2-1 at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk.

The Hawks (5-12, 4-3 ICCAC) opened the match with a goal in the fourth minute after Hugo Santos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) found the back of the net. The Northeast defense was hold strong until the second overtime when Einero found the open shot. Goalie Jyson Breitbarth (Hilo, Hawaii) was stellar in the net for the Hawks, grabbing 12 saves.

"The confidence these men are playing with has really made a difference in their game," head coach Chad Miller said. "They are trusting each other more and believe they can make things happen. Once in overtime, we wanted to attack even being a man down. We had some good chances early in overtime and final found the net in the second overtime. I am proud of these men for continuing to play event being a man down."

Northeast squares off with Dakota County Technical College at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Rosemount, Minn.
