SHERRARD, Ill. – The Northeast Community College men's golf team was in Sherrard, Illinois Monday and Tuesday to compete in The Battle for the Mississippi against some of the top teams in the nation. The Hawks claimed victory as a team and freshman D'Arcy Whyte (Moama, Australia) took the individual win in the 36-hole event.
Northeast led the tournament that included Heartland Community College, who was No. 1 team in the Collegiate Golf Coaches Poll entering the week, after 18 holes on Monday and was able to finish the deal Tuesday to bring home their first trophy of the 2025-26 season.
