PLYMOUTH, Ind. – The No. 9 Northeast men's golf team hit the course Tuesday for Round 1 of the 2025 NJCAA DII Men's Golf Championship at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana. The Hawks currently sit in ninth place with six teams yet to finish the first round due to inclement weather.
Northeast fought wind, rain and cold temperatures all day but got off to a blistering start that put them at the top of the leaderboard early on. There were two separate weather delays that caused the first of four rounds to last over eight hours, but each of the five Hawks competing were able to finish all 18 holes before darkness fell.
Luke Bonser (Durham, England) and Tyler Baumchen (Topeka, Kan.) lead the way for Northeast at two-over par. Bonser tallied two birdies on the day while Baumchen rolled in three of his own. Freshman Bryson Parker (Turpin, Okla.) sits at three-over par with four birdies throughout his round as the Hawks were the last group on the course to get a full 18 holes in. Northeast will have a quick turnaround in the morning as they will begin Round 2 at 7 a.m. Wednesday.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:
Head Men's Golf Coach Ty Heimes his team's first day at the national tournament:
"We got off to a good start," Heimes said. "We were one-under par through nine holes. The weather delays made it a little tough. We had a bad stretch from hole 10 to hole 12. Other than that, I felt like we played pretty dang good all day. If we can play like we did on the front nine the rest of this week, we'll be in good shape."
Heimes on what he wants to see from his group tomorrow:
"Early start going at 7 a.m.," Heimes said. "There shouldn't be much wind, which will be nice. Our plan is to go out there and post a couple of good scores to get back in the tournament."
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will begin Round 2 of the 2025 NJCAA DII Men's Golf Championship at 7 a.m. tomorrow at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana.
