NO. 11 NORTHEAST CLAIMS THIRD VICTORY OF THE SPRING IN IOWA THURSDAY

PANORA, Iowa – The No. 11 Northeast Community College men's golf team traveled to Panora, Iowa Wednesday and Thursday for the Southwestern Premier. The Hawks took their third team victory of the spring in the two-day tournament by five strokes in a field full of some of the best teams in their district.

Northeast was led in the tournament by Tyler Baumchen (Topeka, Kan.) as the sophomore held a three-shot lead after the first day of the event before ultimately finishing fourth. In total, six different Hawks finished in the top 15 as Jacob Harnden (Cobourg, Canada) tied for fifth, Gunther Soltvedt (Eagle, Colo.) finished seventh, Luke Bonser (Durham, England) tied for 10th while Tommy Dredla (Scottsbluff, Neb.) and Martin Hempston (London, England) both placed in a tie for 13th.

The triumph marks the third win in the last four tournaments for Northeast with postseason play up next. Teams from Region 9, 11 and 13 will compete at the North Central District Tournament on May 4-6 at Whispering Creek Golf Club in Sioux City, Iowa with the top three teams advancing to the 2025 NJCAA DII Men's Golf Championship on May 20-23 at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana.
