HARNDEN AND BAUMCHEN PLACE TOP 10 AT NEBRASKA INTERCOLLEGIATE

HASTINGS, Neb. – The Northeast Community College men's golf team traveled on Friday and Saturday to Hastings, Nebraska to compete in the Nebraska Intercollegiate at Lochland Country Club. The Hawks finished in second place as a team in the 10-squad field.

Northeast was led on the weekend by Jacob Harnden (Cobourg, Canada) as the freshman came home tied for third while shooting two under par. Tyler Baumchen (Topeka, Kan.) also placed in the top 10 with a score of three over par. The Hawks finished ahead of four-year schools Bellevue University, Midland University, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Doane University and Concordia University in the event.

Head Men's Golf Coach Ty Heimes on his team's second-place finish:

"It was a good week for us," Heimes said. "We take a lot of pride in playing well in this tournament. It was nice to see our guys step up and shoot some good scores."

Heimes on Jacob Harnden and Tyler Baumchen placing in the top 10:

"Jacob and Tyler had good tournaments," Heimes said. "They both work very hard so it's nice to see their work pay off."

UP NEXT:

The Hawks will head to Hunters Ridge Golf Course on October 14 and October 15 in Marion, Iowa to compete in the Kirkwood Invitational.
