JENSEN AND HERNANDEZ HOMER FOR NORTHEAST SATURDAY IN OKLAHOMA

ENID, Okla. – The Northeast Community College baseball team finished their series against Northern Oklahoma College-Enid with a doubleheader Saturday in Enid, Oklahoma. The Hawks took Game 1 of the day by a final score of 6-2 before dropping Game 2, 10-9.

Northeast (1-3) was powered by their offense in the first contest of the afternoon as Kale Jensen (Central City, Neb.) had three RBIs and a home run. Cole Kuszak (Broomfield, Colo.) was dominant on the mound as the freshman went five innings, allowed just two hits and one earned run in his first-career start with the Hawks.

Edgar Hernandez (Glenwood Springs, Colo.) blasted his first collegiate home run in the second showdown of the day as five runs in the seventh inning put the Hawks ahead late. Jack Borgmann (Norfolk, Neb.) had two hits and a double before Northeast surrendered two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Baseball Coach Marcus Clapp on Saturday in Oklahoma:

"When we throw strikes, compete and are aggressive, we have success," Clapp said. "When we don't battle offensively and walk 12, we don't have success. It goes back to what I always say: 'If we don't beat ourselves, we'll compete with anyone.' Getting walked-off three times is tough, but I think we competed well and we know what we have to fix moving forward."

The Hawks will hit the road again and will take on Neosho County Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. in Chanute, Kansas.
