HURFORD LEADS THE WAY FOR NORTHEAST IN NORTH CENTRAL SPRING PREVIEW

WATERLOO, Iowa – The Northeast Community College golf team traveled to Gates Park Golf Course in Waterloo, Iowa for the North Central Spring Preview Monday. The Hawks finished in a tie for fourth place in the 18-hole event.

Eight different programs competed at the competition that is designed to give schools a preview of what is to come at the North Central District Tournament on May 6 in what will decide who goes to nationals from Region 11. The Hawks tied with Hawkeye Community College in fourth place and Rupert Hurford (Paris, France) led the way on the individual leaderboard for Northeast with a tie for 11th place.

HEAR FROM THE HAWKS COACH:

Head Men's Golf Coach Ty Heimes on the afternoon in Waterloo:

"We had a pretty good tournament," Heimes said. "I think that the course fits us pretty well. We go back there in two weeks to play it again. We want to keep learning the course to prepare for the North Central District Tournament."

Heimes on heading to Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln this weekend:

"It will be a tough course," Heimes said. "Good tournament with a strong field. It will be a good test."

The Hawks will hit the course again this weekend and will compete in a two-day event at the Howl at the Hill at Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln, Nebraska.
